Feb. 2006, the Outbound GSE team practice presents at the Cato Rotary Club prior to departing for the Philippines.

| At the 1/23/06 meeting of the Cato Rotary Cub a gift was given
for the victims of hurricane Katrina. A local group, lead by Tim Comings,
DVM is going to New Orleans as a volunteer organization originating from
the Cato Union Church. They will be repairing damaged homes for those
least able to help themselves. This group consists of Tim/Leslie Comings,
Dave/Heidie Conibear, Leigh/Eleanor Pittroff, Adam Marshall, Eric Stein,
and Jay Woods. The New Orleans Project is scheduled for 2/17-2/25/06. They will drive straight to their destination and stay in a local church. They will work primarily at sheetrock installation in homes of people with established needs and then drive straight back to Cato. The group raised enough money to pay for the trip and some materials but were still short several thousand dollars. The Cato Rotary Club presented Tim with a check for $3,100 which had been donated by individual club members. Tims' group is now confident they will be able to purchase all the materials they need for this effort. The club felt this was the most effective manner in which this money could be utilized. We congratulate this selfless group of volunteers and pray they will have a safe and productive trip. The above picture is of the Cato Rotary Club who will accompany
the group to New Orleans. |

| The Cato Rotary Club float, constructed by Club President Rosemary Donnelly's daughter, Kathy. We took our 2004 float to the Cato-Meridian and Jordan Memorial Day parades. The Cato Rotary Club held a ceremony to transfer the responsibility of the new soccer field-house to the CIMARF park officials. The Cato Club built the concrete block and steel building which contains rest rooms, a storage area and a concession stand for the new soccer fields at CIMARF park in Cato. The transfer ceremony was performed by last years club president Tim Gall. Certificates of appreciation were presented by current club president Rosemary Donnelly. Cal Weldon maned the food wagon, as he usually does, to provide refreshments to all. The Rotary wheel adorns the road side of the building and a permanent Cato Rotary Club plaque is attached to one of the concrete block walls. The pictures below delineate the ceremony and plaque.
-The Cato Rotary Club will be holding its annual, Easter egg hunt
on April 12, 2003 at the Cato-Meridian middle school. The Cato Rotary Club held its annual picnic on August 12, at 6pm. Rotarian Dick Hill hosted the affair at his Cross lake home.
The Cato Rotary Club has built a rest room and concession facility at the soccer fields at CIMIRF park in Cato. The under ground electrical cable is being installed and the concrete block building will be fully functional as soon as the power company installs the electric meter. The Cato Club had its annual Pancake Breakfast on Palm Sunday, April 8th, from 7am to 1pm at the Cato-Meridian middle school cafeteria. The Cato Club also held its annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 7th, from 10am to 12pm at the Cato-Meridian middle school cafeteria. |
