SHARE Haiti Club Project

For our 2001-2002 International project, Moravia Rotary has chosen to help Rev. Philip Norris (now a member of Rotary in Haiti) with the inception of a program entitled SHARE Haiti. This project is aimed at helping people to help themselves through education, vocational training and small business enterprises. It is not the aim that people become dependent on funding and support from the project.

S.H.A.R.E. Haiti is an exciting and innovative project - looking realistically and practically at giving people the tools to improve their lives. S.H.A.R.E. stands for self help and renewed environment.

The philosophy behind this project is that people who need help also need dignity and a feeling of self worth. In giving people the power, knowledge and tools to help themselves, they can change and renew their own environments with a sense of pride.

Our initial roll in this project was to register and internet domain and publish a website to help explain this project and solicit sponsorships. Further work will entail identifying other needs of the project and creating ways to work with Rev Norris and hopefully his local Rotary Club to accomplish the goals of the program.

We invite you to view the website, sharehaiti.com. As we work to pick up the pieces here at home after the events of early September, we still need to keep in mind the everyday existence of those less fortunate in the world around us.
