DEC 15, 1999 NEWS: Joint Meetings will be held involving the Utica and New Hartford Rotary Clubs during the next two weeks. On Wednesday, November 22, we will host the meeting at Alfredo's. On Wednesday, November 29, the Utica Rotary will host the meeting at Twin Ponds. Both meetings will be held at noon time.
Rodrigo, our exchange student sponsored during 1996-97 returned to the States for a month's visit. He joined us for lunch today, thanks to the Jeff Gornick family.
Don Urbanke has volunteered to take over the duties of the Sunshine committee that the late Virginia Hickey took care of for many years, sending birthday greetings and making efforts to recognize achievements of club members. A special thanks goes out to Joe Favaloro for attending a meeting at Utica College that involved interviewing prospective outbound youth exchange students for the 2000-2002 school year.
A Big Thanks to Mike Johnson of Bikes and Boards at Commercial Drive (across from Toys R Us). Mike was supportive enough to the Club by not only donating to the Auction for the first time, but outfitting David DiMarco with full ski equipment for the whole season.

DEC 8, 1999 NEWS: This week President Craig opened the meeting with a report that this year's Christmas Auction grossed approximately $8400.00 The official figure will be tabulated and announced in the future. Recognition was given to the Auction Committee, including Jim Cook, Diane Currier, Jeff Gornick, and Mark Wilkins. These individuals were dedicated enough to volunteer their time and efforts to pull off this successful event, but it took the help of ALL of our membership and we all can give ourselves a pat on the back for its positive outcome. GREAT JOB!
We have a new member application. Marlene B. Brown, PHF, formally of the Utica Rotary Club, will be coming on board pending Board approval. The vote will take place Monday. Marlene is District Director of Communications, Chair of D7150's Technology Committee, and Editor of the District newsletter, Credo. She is Webmeister of our award-winning District and YE sites, as well as co-webmeister of the Utica Rotary site. Welcome, Marlene.
My regrets in informing the Club of the resignation of Roger Cleveland. Roger has served the club as no other member, holding down the secretary's job for over two and a half years. The tough job that it is, Roger was always prompt and accurate with all his reports and correspondence, as well as having the necessary awards ready for presenting. He was head of the Pride-In-Workmanship Award and always was ready to do whatever task was asked of him. Roger's workload at his job has increased over this past year, and he serves as Vice President of one County-wide organization and has been tapped as VP of another. We wish him the best in his future plans and will always remember him as the "Service-Above-Self" man that he is.
I'm making a formal request to the membership to add our Exchange students that our Club is responsible for to your holiday card list. They love to hear from home, whether it be from New York, Florida, or wherever you may be. Here are their addresses:
Lisa Brindisi, 3 Turlong Road, Armingdale, NSW, Australia
Paul Balzano, Karl Kautzky #26, A4040-Linz, Austria
