GEDDES DAYS COMMUNITY PICNIC
Held annually, Geddes Days is a celebration and picnic held at the
NY State Fair Grounds. Businesses throughout the Solvay-Geddes community
help to sponsor the event. Entertainment, community group tabling,
a magician, and children’s games make this a fun event for local
families. Hot dogs, hamburgers, sodas, and cake is handed out with
families bringing the side dishes. Rotary presents awards for “Outstanding
Community Individual,” “Outstanding Business,” “Outstanding
Organization,” as well as, “Outstanding Rotarian.”
Drawings raise funds for local organizations. In 2004, $2,000 was
raised for the Solvay Public Library’s Centennial Building Project.
