Santa Cruz, Bolivia Rotary Volunteer Service: Rotarian Dr. Joseph Bearman, Supported by Rotary Clubs of: Canastota, Chittenango, Fayetteville-Manlius, Oneida, Sherrill Rotary Team off to

The Rotary Volunteer team consisted of: Jason Zamkoff, Medical Student, Dr. Ty Dickerson, Anuj Dala, Medical Student, Dr. Joe Bearman They went to Santa Cruz Bolivia, for 30 days, to provide medical care to indigent Bolivian children. They made the trip through Rotary Foundation and its Grants for Rotary Volunteers. Dr. Bearman initiated the plan almost one year ago and has worked hard to bring the humanitarian mission about. Avoidable Blindness Project: Herkimer Rotary Club
The Avoidable Blindness Project D7150 2000/01 World Community Service Projects
Twenty million people in our world today are blind because they do not have access to a simple cataract operation. Through the efforts of Rotary President, Frank Devlyn, Rotary is able to restore site to three individuals in third world countries for just US$100. Herkimer raised $1,000, which was matched by RF and the district for a total of $3,000. Through their efforts, Herkimer Rotarians restored sight to 90 individuals.

The Belize School Supply Project Belize School Supply Project - These clubs have gathered schools supplies and shipped them to schools in need in Belize. This is an excellent example of how clubs can combined their efforts to work directly with a deserving organization across international boarders.

The Kissan School Project Kisan School Project - This grant provides funds to ship books and computers to Kisan High School and to purchase audio-visual and science equipment for the Rural Center for Science Culture.

Karur India Technical School Project: Area 5 Rotary Clubs: Auburn, Aurora, Camillus, Marcellus, Moravia, Skaneateles, Solvay-Geddes, Tully
The Karur India Technical School Project - Eight Area 5 clubs combined their effort to support a RF grant, which will create a vocational training center to train unemployed person in profitable vocations for a sustained and decent living. The students will be trained in the weaving and tailoring occupations.

Machakos, Kenya Primary School Book Project: Hamilton Rotary Club
The Machakos, Kenya Primary School Book Project - The purpose of this project is to bring the world of literacy to the children of Machakos, Kenya, who would otherwise be without access to books. This is to be accomplished by vastly augmenting and growing a small existing library located at a primary school facility.
Tirana, Albania Tutoring/Mentoring Project: Rotarians: Barbar Klein and Sheila Orlin, Supported by the Utica Rotary Club
The Tirana, Albania Tutoring/Mentoring Project Tutoring / Mentoring Project "piggybacks" on an existing program being operated by an organization known as Useful to Albanian Women (UAW) in two cities in Albania. The program provides 180 disadvantaged and poor children from the war town regions with economic/social programs.
General Pacheco, Argentina Training School for Employable Disabled Project: DeWitt Rotary Club
The General Pacheco, Argentina Training School for Employable Disabled Project Training School for Employable Disabled grant leverages the Rotary Club of General Pacheco, Argentina to utilized a building owned by that club to create a training and workshop center for physically and mentally disabled employable young adults. The project is the outcome of a Rotary Friendship Exchange the DeWitt Rotarians participated in the spring of 2000.
Harare, Zimbabwe Wells and Latrines Project: Liverpool Rotary Club
The Harare, Zimbabwe Wells and Latrines Project Wells and Latrines Project is a grant project "work in progress" that will supply funds and materials to create clean drinking water and prevent water contamination through the construct of adequate latrines. It will combine the efforts of Rotary Clubs of Liverpool and Harare, Zimbabwe, and the contribution of equipment from a local manufacture.
West African Eye Foundation Clinic, Dakar, Senegal Discovery Grant Project: Rotarian James Gascon, Supported by the Eastwood Rotary Club
The West African Eye Foundation Clinic Discovery Grant Project -
This discovery grant leverages the efforts of the West African Eye Foundation, Inc. (WAEF), established in Syracuse. The WAEF is to establish an eye clinic to include examination and treatment of deceases and disorders relating to the human eye.
