Saratoga "Fast Facts"

Fast Fact #1: From its European settlement as the country's first resort to the gilded age of spas, grand hotels and promenades, to its present day appeal as a top destination for travel, Saratoga is one of America's great places. Recognized today as one of the United States most walkable cities, Saratoga's charm is reflected in its lovely shops and restaurants, wonderful museums and historic sites, world-class attractions and outstanding recreational choices, including golf, tennis and Saratoga's world-famous springs and mineral baths.

Not only is there so much to do there, so close at hand, Saratoga's legendary hospitality sets it apart from other meeting and convention sites. From the the warm welcome signs in retail and dining windows, to a conference and tourism staff totally dedicated to making the Rotary District 7150 conference a great success. Saratoga is known for its safe ``city in the country" atmosphere.

Saratoga has received the ``Great American Place Award" from American Heritage Magazine, the ``Great American Main Street Award" from American Cities; it has been named ``One of America's Most Walkable Cities" by Walking Magazine, and has received the ``Top Destination Award" bestowed by Facilities Magazine.

District Governor-elect Bruce Frassinelli invites you and your family to Saratoga 2001 (September 21-23, 2001) in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. To register, please contact District Conference Chair Paul Heins at 623-7508 or e-mail Paul or print out and mail the registration form.

Address by District Governor-elect, attired in toga, at the 2000 District Conference in Toronto

Friends, Rotarians, Countrymen and women, lend me your ears.

I come to this time and this place to make a simple proposition.

Here under leave of the noble Ward,

Come I to speak of Saratoga.

The noble Ward hath told you that Toronto would be exceptional,

And he was right.

The noble Ward is an honorable man

So are all those from Skaneateles honorable, honorable Rotarians.

And tradition has been well served once again.

We came, we saw, we conquered the daunting tasks before us,

But in true Rotarian fashion, renewed by our past and buoyed by the present success of Conference 2000, we now look to the future.

All roads may lead to Rome, but our eyes next gaze south and east,

For our next triumph lies there.

In just 341 days, we will convene again,

Not at Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Waterbury or Albany -- not even at Philippi -- but at Saratoga.

Unlike our forebears, we will not do battle at that revolutionary place.

Nay, we shall meet, learn, share, enjoy, and we shall be nourished by the refreshing and curative waters of Saratoga.

Yea, Rotary and Saratoga: We will make history together.

Message from DG Bruce

Dear District 7150 Rotarians: I would like to invite you personally to join my wife, Marie, and me at District Conference 2001 in beautiful Saratoga Springs September 21-23, 2001.

Our goal is to make this the most dynamic district conference ever. In addition to many activities planned at Saratoga Springs, there will be an inspirational, emotional and unique series of Rotary programs and activities which will surely infuse you with the pride of Rotary. The co-host clubs -- Oswego, Fulton and Fulton Sunrise -- want a huge representation from each of the 44 clubs in the district.

Our goal is to have 500 Rotarians, partners and guests, but we can't do it without you. I personally guarantee you will not be sorry you decided to go to Saratoga. There will be plenty of surprises, too.

Don't miss out. Register now by filling out the registration form and returning it to Paul Heins, 2001 Conference Chair. The registration form can be downloaded and printed out here, or send me an e-mail with the relevant information (name, address, Rotary club and Visa or MasterCard credit card number), and I'll take care of the rest.

We have been able to keep the cost of accommodations and food at a very reasonable rate: $438.12 double occupancy for two nights, two dinners and two breakfast buffets, including taxes and gratuities. Single occupancy is $352.26 for the same line-up. (Other quotes -- triples, etc. and suites) upon request.

Saratoga Springs is a lovely and charming community. We will have several optional activities for Saturday afternoon that take advantage of Saratoga's rich history, spas, shopping and golfing, but that is only the half of it -- remember the impressive program to enhance the Rotary experience.

So, how about it? Sign up today. You won't regret it. Rotary and Saratoga -- Making History Together. If I can answer any questions you have, feel free to write to me, email me, or call me at 342-4180.

Saratoga 2001 will be a history-making experience, and we want all of you there to be a part of it.

Warmest regards,
Bruce Frassinelli
Governor-elect (2001-2002)
