Louis "Lou" Steppello

District Governor, 2012-2013

Personal History

Louis A. Steppello was born and raised in Utica, NY. He is the proud parent of five children and eleven grandchildren. Lou graduated from Proctor High School, Mohawk Valley Community College with an A.A.S. degree in Mechanical Technology, and from Oswego State University with a B. S. degree in Education, and from Binghamton University with a Master's degree in M.I.S.

Rotary History

Lou joined the Utica Rotary Club in November 1996 and became the 93rd Utica RC President in 2008-2009. He is a Paul Harris recipient and a sustaining member. During his 14 years as a Rotarian, Lou served on numerous committees at the Club level, serving as: District Chair of Vocational Service; Service Projects Chair; Co-Chair of Public Relations.

Currently, Lou is Assistant District Governor of Rotary District 7150's Area 2, which consists of seven clubs. Lou attended the Rotary Leadership Institute and was among the first group in our District to complete the RLI Graduate Program. in Rotary District 7150, and a Past President of the Utica Rotary Club.

Professional & Community History

Lou's Community Service includes being a Board Member of The ARC of Oneida/Lewis Counties, a member of the Mohawk Valley Auditorium Authority, a member of the Sons of Italy, The Elks, and Past board member of The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce.

His professional experience includes teaching in the Utica School District; Contracts Administrator and Marketing Representative with the Bendix Fluid Power Aerospace Corporation, and Director of Operations for the Mohawk Janitorial Services (a major custodial company in Central NY) and Chairman of the Upper Mohawk Valley Auditorium Authority.
